About the role

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing the organisation’s central marketing function and leading on recruitment brand growth and development. This is a really exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about marketing and communications, and who wants to work for an award-winning organisation while having real impact through their work!

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in executing and evaluating successful marketing strategies, have strong copywriting and design skills and be a confident communicator. This role will work as part of the Recruitment and Marketing leadership team, playing an important role in attracting the highest quality applicants to work in prisons with Unlocked Graduates.

Whilst we do not expect candidates to demonstrate expertise in all of the below-listed areas immediately, we are looking for somebody who has an appropriate skills blend; we will support you to grow and develop the rest.

Key accountabilities

Creative

  • Manage and create appropriate long and short form copy and digital content for a variety of channels
  • Lead on design and development of digital, social and print assets across the organisation and for marketing activities
  • Project manage complex print, design and video production projects, including working with participants, colleagues and partners in government and the third sector
  • Maintain a cutting-edge understanding of market research, the early careers landscape and the best way to use social media and activation channels to maximum effect
  • Design and content development of our website in collaboration with our agency and External Relations team

Management

  • Manage and support the Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator
  • Work as part of the Recruitment and Marketing leadership team to support the drive for strong team culture and high performance
  • Manage external creative, media buying and web development agencies to ensure effective development and implementation of our strategy
  • Manage our SEO and web strategy with external agencies to drive traffic, applications, and engagement
  • Work cross-organisationally to support with the marketing requests of various teams

Strategy

  • Work with the Recruitment and Marketing Director to design and deliver the recruitment marketing strategy to attract and convert high-calibre candidates to our graduate scheme
  • Consistently evaluate and analyse social media and marketing data to identify risks and address any challenges
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing strategies to raise the profile of Unlocked Graduates
  • Evaluate and improve marketing campaigns with possible solutions to fit within budgetary constraints
  • Work towards set KPIs to achieve wider organisational aims

Person specification

  • Strong belief in and enthusiasm for Unlocked Graduates’ aims and mission
  • Proven track record of developing communications and marketing campaigns, and content strategies across a wide range of channels
  • Display strong planning and project management aptitude, alongside excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with design, production and web design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Mailchimp, WordPress)
  • Proven ability to develop, deliver and evaluate a range of marketing strategies and campaigns, including digital campaigns, and familiarity with presenting data and ROI to internal and external stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of how to effectively use a range of social media channels for marketing campaigns and organic purposes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • A team player, who is willing to deliver practically on the ground and be hands-on
  • Experience of, or interest in, working in marketing within a charity setting
  • Experience of, or interest in, recruitment marketing and the graduate recruitment marketplace
  • Budget management experience (desirable)
  • Experience of line management (desirable)
