VICE: Why I Quit My Creative Job to Become a Prison Officer
VICE profile Unlocked Graduate David Ralph as part of their Quit Your Sh*t Job column which ‘interviews people who left their totally average jobs to do something they actually like.’
David explains to VICE what led him to make such a dramatic career turn – from the ‘sheltered existence’ of the theatre to the challenging and diverse role of a prison officer.
“It has really opened my eyes. I lived such a sheltered existence before – especially in theatre, where the majority of people are from the same bubble. I love getting to know people with different stories and hearing about their experiences – I’ve learned so much about the world we live in.”
