Mentoring Prison Officer

JJ joined Unlocked Graduates as a participant in 2021 and has worked in a variety of residential roles, as well as briefly being seconded to a national coaching team. Prior to becoming an MPO in 2024, she was working on the segregation unit of a female adult and young offender prison.

JJ is passionate about learning and sharing best practices to strive for continuous improvement of custodial cultures and environments. Seeing the positive impact on prisoners of consistent and compassionate officers has brought about a focus on staff support and development; she believes that empowered staff can empower prisoners to change their lives.
