Chey joined Unlocked Graduates as a participant in 2022 working in a male Category A prison. She has worked across the landings and in the Visits department, as well as contributing to the prisoner TV information channel. She has also gained wider experience through visits to women’s estates and Californian prisons, contributing to her master’s on how men cope with long-term sentences.
From her first days on the job, Chey recognised both the difficulty of the role and the vital importance of support. Having benefited greatly from her own Mentoring Prison Officer and the investment of Unlocked, she is proud to step into this position herself. Chey feels privileged to guide new officers, empower them to use their voice, and support them in this challenging but vital career.
