Using these models

To support your understanding of the techniques contained within Leading Prison Landings: The Unlocked Guide to Jailcraft and then build them into your practice, we have produced a series of video models.

We have tried to replicate real scenarios, and these videos were largely filmed in real custodial environments in order to make them as realistic as possible. However, every prison – and every wing in every prison – will look different, so we ask that you adapt these models to your own working environment, creating mental models that will enable you to build these techniques into your practice.

These videos should be used alongside the guidelines, examples and success checks contained within the book, allowing you to model the strategies effectively. They may be useful if you are practising the techniques on your own with the help of a mirror or a camera, while you may also wish to discuss what you see in the videos with a coach or mentor.

The videos include actors and alongside a group of real prison officers. These officers agreed to feature because they feel strongly about the need for high-quality training materials for frontline prison staff. We are constantly looking to improve and develop these models, so we ask that anyone finding fault with anything in these videos raise them with the authors of the book rather than with the staff themselves.
